This is more difficult than I thought it would be, writing a bio.

I had honestly not even considered the necessity of one, but I suppose that it is.

Who is Jim Berman, in relation to the mission of Reconcile?

I, love the ideals of this Ministry.

When this endeavor was launched years ago, I had Isaiah 1:17 as my Mantra on my business cards.

“Learn to do good, seek justice. Correct oppression, bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widows cause.”

It is our responsibility to sustain each other.

It is our privilege and duty to lift up others as much as we are able to.

One marginalized group that I am most involved with is the HIV positive Community.

I myself was diagnosed with HIV in 1987 at the age of 18.

At the time, I was told that I had about 2 years to live.

This put my life into a tailspin.

I know the pain of living with the stigma of HIV.

The helplessness that this illness causes, how quickly it can kill hopes, dreams and aspirations.

But, I also know of the victory that can be reclaimed.

Through hope, faith and effective treatment, anyone can overcome HIV through Viral Suppression.

The hope and gospel of U=U (Undetectable equals Untransmittable), which means that anyone who is on an effective treatment regiment, and gets their viral load (The amount of Virus present in one’s bloodstream) to undetectable levels can NOT transmit the virus to their partners.

This is not science fiction, this is science fact.

I have two children, both under 7 years of age who are HIV Negative, as well as a loving spouse who is also HIV negative.

HIV can be defeated through treatment and spreading the word that U=U!!

There is no need to fear this illness anymore, and no need for anyone to hide in the shadows or not to seek treatment.

Making sure that everyone hears this word, and spreads it as far as possible, is my mission in life.

To bring hope and love and light to a population that for far too long has been locked in a dark place, kept there by stigma and fear.

And since you’ve just read this, you have just me on this journey.

Please, spread the word of U=U.

I also am more than please to appear anywhere to share this amazing story, as well as my broader story of incredible joy, from out of unbelievable sorrow.

Far too many people are living in misery with HIV, in fear of HIV and unfortunately dying because of the stigma of HIV.

No one need die of HIV.

This illness in absolutely manageable.

And the clarion call of this movement to eradicate HIV in our lifetimes is U=U.

Please contact me to have me come speak in front of your Church, Social Club, Group or Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

I would be more than happy to do so.

And never forget..

“People who achieve and undetectable viral Load through Viral Suppression through effective treatment can NOT transmit the virus to their partners or anyone else.”
